PULS (prototype)

PULS (prototype) was a site-specific installation made to hang over the river in Aarhus, a prototype of a permanent artwork for the same site, commissioned by Lights on Aarhus and presented as part of Aarhus Festuge 2021.

The installation consisted of hundreds of steel ornaments with one polished side and one side of retro-reflective film. The ornaments mirrored their surroundings during the day, and at night they were lit by warm tones of red and purple atmospheric light. Light from passing cars and bikes also had an impact on the installation during the darker hours.

Qualitative interviews with passersby were conducted alongside the prototype, to gather data and feedback to use in the further development of the permanent artwork.

The permanent version of the artwork was commissioned by Lights on Aarhus in 2021. Due to a political decision in 2024 to discontinue the innovation project Lights on Aarhus, the permanent artwork has not been realised.
