What we do

Noga Projects works with the idea of integrating the playfulness of natural and artificial light into our everyday surroundings. Light connects us with the spaces we inhabit.

Artworks made of light.

Noga Projects works with architects, curators and city planners to develop custom-made public artworks, that:

  • Support the unique characteristics of a place and its already-existing qualities.

  • Change expression and appearance throughout the day and the year.

  • Interact with daylight and existing city light, and can be combined with added artificial light.

Poetic lighting for events.

Noga Projects works with festivals and event organizers to develop poetic and playful light atmospheres, that:

  • Transform the experience of any space, both indoors and outdoors.

  • Repurpose waste materials and are mindful of the environment.

  • Minimize energy consumption.

Stage lighting design.

Noga Projects collaborates with artists in performing arts to create thoughtful stage lighting concepts, that:

  • Are adapted for touring with limited availability of lighting equipment.

  • Work in site-specific settings and different types of venues.

  • Can incorporate daylight.

  • Noga Projects started as a lighting consultancy in 2018 by Sofia Ivarsson, a graduate of Kolding School of Design with a background in theatre lighting, scenography and communication design. Sofia comes from Sweden and has lived in Copenhagen since 2009.

The name ‘Noga’ originates from the Swedish word for being precise and exact about something. This concept resonates with the design philosophy behind Sofia’s work, which pays great attention to detail and strives to achieve the maximum effect of minimal input.
